Ellen Page: "Whip It" Good...

Halifax, Nova Scotia-born actress Ellen "Juno" Page stars for first-time director Drew Barrymore in Mandate Pictures' $10 million budgeted roller derby feature "Whip It!".

Premise of the story follows 'Bliss Cavendar' (Page) who lives in a small Texas town, competing in beauty pageants, then female roller derby.

Real-life roller derby star Shauna Cross, aka 'Maggie Mayhem', author of the novel "Derby Girl" wrote the "Whip It!" screenplay.

Originally set up at Warner Bros. for Barrymore's Flower Films, "Whip It!" reteams Page with Mandate, producers of director Jason Reitman's "Juno".

"I get to kick ass on wheels," said Page.

Barry "Rushmore" Mendel produced, with executive producers Peter Douglas, Nancy Juvonen, Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Nathan Kahane.

"'Whip It!' is a story that really spoke to me," said Barrymore...
